The viability and sustainability of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) incinerators are strongly influenced by the options available for the incinerator bottom ash (IBA) resulting from the incineration process. The amount of IBA produced averages around 22% by mass of the waste input into the incinerator.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” overlay_strength=”0.3″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]The quality managed processing of IBA into IBA Aggregate is carried out in conformity to harmonised Construction Products Regulation British/European Aggregates Product Standards. This includes weathering, screening, metal recovery and grading to produce a range of grades of IBA Aggregate. IBA Aggregate’s engineering properties mean it is suitable for use in construction in accordance with relevant engineering specifications, primarily in civil engineering applications such as pipe bedding, sub base, engineering fill, concrete blocks, and asphalt.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1576664906941{padding-top: 50px !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”padding-1-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” el_class=”cop-1″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” overlay_strength=”0.3″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_custom_heading text=”Energy from Waste MSW incinerators” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:50|text_align:center|color:%2303b9c5|line_height:1″ google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%3A300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C600%2C600italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C800%2C800italic|font_style:800%20bold%20regular%3A800%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeInDown” css=”.vc_custom_1576664884212{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” overlay_strength=”0.3″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]England needs to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill to help ensure the UK meets the EU Landfill Directive targets for 2020. England will need to reduce to amount of Biodegradable Municipal Waste (BMW) it sends to landfill each year, to no more than 10.2 million tonnes.

To meet these targets Defra is investing some £3 billion of grant funding in a number of waste infrastructure projects. These will help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, improve recycling and boost economic growth. This grant is paid over the 25-year operating life of each project.
